Workshops & Retreats
Join me and fitness trainers
Paul Kunsberg and Deanna Brolly for a free exercise and social event at
Duboce Park on Saturday, August 23 from 10:00 - 11:30 AM. Bring a brown
bag picnic lunch. We can walk to my studio for beverages after the class.
We'll start with a unison group warmup, separate into a round of various
exercise stations using BOSU, stability ball, dumb bells, foam rollers
and TRX functional training straps. then pair up for a little partnered
yoga. This adventure is free, but space is limited so contact me to RSVP
and enroll.
Sole Synthesis is the name of the dance group exercise class that I teach
each Thursday morning at 9:00 AM at Gold's gym - Castro. It's barefoot
cardio at a controlled pace using light hand weights and simple lunging
patterns that reference ballet and yoga poses.
Thank you to the many attendees of my client appreciation day brunch on
May 18th. It was a spectacular and elegant party.
Over this Memorial Weekend I taught an early morning fitness workshop
at the spring retreat of the California Men’s Gathering in Malibu.
I've returned to teaching ballet.
The intermediate class is held at 9:00 AM every Monday at the Sports Club
LA, located on Market Street in the Four Season's Hotel.
Studio Upgrades
There is now a Chin-Up bar
installed in my studio. It's located over some steps so that those of
you who can't yet pull yourself up can walk up to the bar and lower yourself
down. Eventually we'll get you to do it without the steps.
I've purchased a set of TRX
straps that allow us to explore suspended body weight exercises. You get
to hang in space with these things. Fun!
I'm now the proud owner of an
agility ladder that allows us to run speed drills either inside the studio
or down the garden path.
Education
On June 28th I'll attend "Shift
Happens: The Neuroscience of Behavior Change" taught by Paul Taylor.
When are we responsible for our own actions and when are we in the grip
of biological forces beyond our control? To answer this, we must explore
how mind, body, brain and the environment interact to influence how we
behave and ultimately determine who we are.
Art
Please read and feel free to
comment upon my latest short story, "Blame It on the Moon",
a tale about two couples, one challenged by the impact of their newborn
on their young marriage, and another facing the not so simple task of
traveling through San Francisco after global warming has caused the city
to flood.
