Behind the red gate a dark passage funnels you into a garden, my slice of paradise. We might  carry a pair of dumb bells or a yoga mat here and practice among the flowers;  or, if the morning fog chills the air, we’ll retreat into the converted Victorian carriage house that is home to my personal studio.

Just you

It’s very private here, usually just one fitness client at a time; so we can make of your hour whatever you wish. There’s plenty of heavy equipment if you’ve got muscle on your mind or Pilates apparatus if a more subtle approach is desired. Had a tough day? Let’s light candles and listen to the fountain while we workout. Play day? Let’s crank up the tunes and dance! There’s a ballet barre, mirrors and room to move.

 

Michael Parra

Fitness and classical arts education unite in my work.  Mine is an artistic approach  – dedication to high standards, intense focus, and the childlike joy found in creative collaboration. In 1982, a near fatal episode of asthma prompted me to leave the Physical Education Department at San Francisco State University for a scholarship at the Marin Ballet School. I performed with the Richmond Ballet, the San Francisco Opera Ballet and several Bay area jazz and modern dance Companies.  In 1997 I brought together a collection of fellow artists, musicians and dancers to create the NOMAD dance Company. As my students unearthed unsuspected skills, my commitment to community strengthened. I designed and managed programs for isolated, challenged populations such as breast cancer survivors and developmentally disabled adults; and in 2004 the Mill Valley Arts Commission honored me for my achievements.

Paul Kunsberg

Paul brings over 15 years experience as a Personal Trainer and a lifetime of involvement in fitness.  His dedicated yoga practice informs his work especially with regards to form, alignment, and the use of the breath. Whether the goal is invigorating an old fitness regiment or launching a new on, Paul's approach is organized, personal, and fun.
